How to promote your own blog? And a way to get indexed!

Thanks to online services as wordpress or blogger you can create a blog, but a lot of people don’t only want to publish stuff on the internet but to get visits. Firstly, you could promote your blog between your friends. With an account on Facebook.com you just have to add the links of your entries in your wall, so your close friends will see you. However, if you want to expand your visit range (for example: if you want visits from other countries), you should use Twitter. With a tweet, or short public message, you can be seen by a lot of users on Twitter.

Anyway, the source that will lead more visits, organic ones, to your blog will be a search engine. To receive visits from a search engine you have to be indexed on one (at least Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc). To be indexed is to appear in its search results. This will expand your visit range to the entire world. Of course, to appear in a good position between the search results, you should write long entries. However, this is not a rigid rule: there are really short articles about interesting topics which could get a great position in the search results. Finally, to get a nice position there, backlinks are very important.

With Facebook and Twitter you can create some links, but there are other specialized sites as Mixx, Stumbleupon and Digg which can make you create lots of more links to your blog.
