Newspapers will cease to exist in 2043? No, before

Some say that the last day of printed newspapers will be during the year 2043. But taking a look to the high ammount of portable devices that are being developed that allow you to read contents, such as tablets and mobile phones that work as small computers with Internet access, I have to say that the end of printed newspapers will occur earlier.

Now people look at news on websites and subscribe to feeds to get the latest information directly on their emails and feed readers. Both Facebook and Twitter work as if they were personalized newspapers. You can follow or be fan of thousands of people and fan pages. Almost any relevant newspaper has its fanpage on Facebook and other social networking or social bookmarking websites.

Printed newspapers don't allow you to bookmark or save them easily. If you like, you can make an scan of a page that you like or interest to you, but its a lot easier to get to the website of the newspaper and copy the link of the information. Or you can scan the screen of the website simply by pressing a button.

The same destiny of printed newspapers will be shared by books. Now there is very common to read books on the computer, on the tablet or directly on the devices specially made to read books (for example, the Kindle). Developers are improving a lot these kind of portable gadgets. Now its possible to read them in a comfortable way, so your eyes will not suffer as before of the annoying effects of watching an screen for hours.

An example of this trend is that Google has digitalized lots of books through their service called Google Books.
